Ellen Jacobsen Holvik

In my work I often strive for a way to achieve the surfaces and textures that I am fascinated by. It may be when a material transforms and becomes something else, the texture changes and acquires new features. You get one experience when viewing my jewellery and another when you feel them and examine them more closely.
It can be a worked surface, an unexpected weight or a recurring form. Or a colour, or rather the sensation of a colour, a shade that lingers. For me it is not the obvious that is interesting - but  that which you have to search for.
 
I work in my studio on Nordhemsgatan 74 in Gothenburg, which I share with three other jewellery artists - Four. Four is a shop, gallery and atelier for jewellery that was started in spring 2010.
