Stjärnan - Hand Towel
Before the machines fell silent
Textile designer Lisa Vilhelmson believes in the Swedish textile industry. At this moment she has a collection of patterned terry towels woven out of residue yarns under her direction. She took the opportunity to weave one last collection of terry in the “Swedish textile kingdom” before the production and the machines fell silent.
Small-scale Swedish terry production
A piece of heritage is lost every time production is moved abroad. There is so much knowledge and ability to operate small-scale that is lost if you do not care for it. My collection is a tribute to the small-scale, the unique everyday object. A collection of patterned terry towels and bath towels woven out of residue yarns. It is the last collection of terry woven on the terry-machines before they are closed down.
Terry resistant to both eye and hand wear
The eyelet, or looped, terry quality has received good response for its material sense and tactility, which gives it a little old-fashioned appearance. It was a conscious choice not to cut the terry surface because looped terry has without question the best absorption properties.
